Navigating the Space: Teacher-as-Writer in the Bronx

Join the NYCWP for a unique professional learning workshop series that engages participants as both teachers and writers as they explore some public and cultural spaces of the Bronx. Participants will visit and write in a variety of locales and respond to the physical spaces and objects they encounter, and to the abstract spaces (personal, cultural, political) they evoke. Teachers will then explore how to bring these ideas into the classroom, and how to bring students into the city, giving them the tools they need to navigate their own writing spaces.

The workshops will run from July 11-14, 2016, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm each day. Each session will include an hour lunch break. Due to the nature of this program, registration is somewhat limited. Time will be spent at Lehman College, as well as on excursions to different areas around the Bronx. A list of locations will be provided to participants closer to the event date.

If you are an administrator who would like to pay for a teacher or group using a purchase order, please email for information as to how to proceed.
